This comes after five people were killed at a Halloween party in California. More than 100 people attended the party at a house rented through the Airbnb platform. “The temporary lockdown has proven effective and the full lockdown has been adopted as our official policy,” Airbnb said in a statement.
Travelers who break the rules will face penalties that can range from account suspension to a permanent ban from the platform.
According to the organization, around 6,600 people were suspended for this reason in 2021.
